small contribution to 'If I Can't Dance...performance day'

On Sunday 24 January 2016, If I Can’t Dance celebrated the launch of Edition VI – Event and Duration with an introductory event that included lectures, presentations, screenings, installations and performances from Edition VI’s commissioned artists – Leonor Antunes, Alex Martinis Roe, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa, and Joke Robaard – and Performance in Residence researchers – Erin Alexa Freedman and Lili Huston-Herterich, Fred Moten and Wu Tsang, Peter Pál Pelbart, and Vivian Ziherl – to provide a public introduction to their respective projects.

The event took place at the Cygnus Gymnasium, located in Amsterdam – a building designed between 1952 and 1956 by the Dutch architect J.B. Ingwersen (1921–1996), and inspired by Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation and its principals of living, functionalism and frank expression of materiality. Originally built as a technical college, for which the transparency of the building’s design and construction served as a learning model, today the building is in operation as a school for secondary students.

Me and my beloved chef fellow Mari were there for the second year to supprot the programm. Small vegan bites as lemon curd cupcakes and celery creamy crostini for the coffee break and oriental snacks for the evening: umeboshi oniguiri, daikon with wasabi green peas boats and matcha cake were on the menu.
